Design and Simulation of an HDR CMOS Image Sensor Employing Programmable Linear–Logarithmic Counter With Nonlinear Response Pixel

Today's article comes from the IEEE Open Journal of the Industrial Electronics Society. The authors are Carneiro et al., from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil. In this paper, they're designing a new image sensor that combines a nonlinear, context-aware pixel with a programmable linear-logarithmic readout counter. This allows adaptive tone mapping and high dynamic range to be captured directly at the hardware level.
